this is a design i did fro the animated movie based on EA Game's Dead Space. it's a creature call the Graverobber, and it was the only monster created exclusively for the movie. unfortunately it ended up getting cut out at the last moment.

drawing and inks by me, colors by my pal, Kim Bitsui.

Don't even get me started on the game mode where you have to disarm Nuclear bombs whilst cowboys riding missiles shoot lasers from their Magicarps!

i was kinda hoping that the graverobber could've ended up in the actual video game as well, because you're right....he would've made a cool boss.

but it did get cut, and i know that there were hundreds of Korean animators that were very grateful for it!

unfortunately that's probably it for ol' grave robber.

the nature of the way our film production is set up separate from EA's, and that i created it , while working for the production company...Starz media, makes it very unlikely.

EA did love it though....the decision to get rid of the creature was on our end , not theirs.

yup, that's Irons...and if you look closely you'll see some other members of the security force.

that was the concept behind the Graverobber....he would harvest bodies slaughtered , process them and add to his body structure.

i do wince when i look at that part of the creature, because it wasn't well drawn....i was really going to focus my efforts on drawing that part well when i did a close up model of that section.

which, of course, i never ended up getting a chance to do.

good eye, BTW.
